Mark has over 40 years of experience as a seasoned oilfield entrepreneur and business leader.  His management hands-on management philosophy has taken him all over the globe including Canada, Venezuela, Indonesia, Egypt, Russia, UK, Norway and Nigeria.  Mark’s role at ZPL is to manage service providers, vendors, general operations and use of down hole technology.

Mark’s oilfield career began at HCH Supply in Cairo, Egypt. He worked with pipe inspection, heavy equipment rental, shipping of potable water in the Red Sea to oilfield base camps and overseeing distribution of oilfield products that HCH represented.

He subsequently co-founded a gas lift company in Lafayette, LA.  The team developed several new gas lift valves, mandrels and down hole tools for wireline and coil tubing and offered over 12 patented tools for artificial lift.  As president, Mark led joint venture negotiations with James Howden, a Scottish manufacturing and equipment company, to market the equipment in the US and internationally under the Howden Energy and Howden Monarch entities.

Mark subsequently structured and negotiated a buyout of the Howden companies, which he and his team refocused on growing international business development in Southeast Asia and Venezuela.  Mark bought into Dataline that developed down hole pressure and temperature gauges and helped them develop and patent down hole tools for gas lift and gauges that could be controlled from the surface. He then led a merger of 5 companies to form Subtech International, a controls and intelligent completions company which was acquired shortly thereafter by Weatherford. Subtech, along with a couple of other companies formed the EP Solutions group inside Weatherford.

In compliance with a post-sale non-compete with Weatherford, Mark turned his focus to real estate development and new home construction in the North Houston suburbs. At one point, he ran the development and home building of five subdivisions.

Upon expiration of the non-compete, Mark realigned his attention to the oilfield pipe supply industry as a business consultant and capital raiser.  He has worked with various ZPL team members over the past decades.  Mark holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin University and lives in Houston, TX where he enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters and grandchildren.
